OXFAM ORGANISES EFFECTIVE PROJECT MANAGEMENT TRAINING FOR FuWoBa PROJECT AND OTHER STAFF

The Country Office, OXFAM in Nigeria commenced Project Management Training for the Agroforestry Team, FuWoBa Project, Katsina on Monday 27th February, 2017 at the Oxfam Multi-purpose Conference Hall, 11 Ganges Street, Off Alvan Ikoku Street, Maitama District, Abuja, Nigeria. The training specifically planned to continue till Thursday, March 2, 2017 also had in attendance staff from Finance, AO, HR, IFC and IT departments in the Country office, and participants from the LINE (Bauchi) and Humanitarian (Maiduguri) Projects.

In his Welcome Address, the Country Director, Mr. Jan Rogge (represented by the Associate Country Director – Evelyn Mere) welcomed and advised participants to utilize the opportunity created to ensure that Projects implemented by the Organization are delivered successfully and with minimum ineligibility. The Country Director enjoined Project teams to pay greater attention to Results, Quality of reporting, Timeline of the Projects, Effective Budget control and Donor compliance.

The key facilitator of the training, Janny Bosscher of JANNY BOSSCHER CONSULTING|WESTVEST 207, 2611BZ DELFT, THE NETHERLANDS, gave an overview on training content and appealed to participants to give distraction free concentration to the four days training. According to her, the Project topics were carefully selected and aligned with the LINE Project (sponsored by Global Affairs Canada – GAC) to cover – Focus on results, Project design, Budget and Planning, Project quality, Donor compliance and tracking, Project team work including process of delivery and effective decision making.

Earlier in the previous week, a three days (February 22 – 24, 2017) training on MANDATORY ONE OXFAM WAYS OF WORKING was organized for over 35 participants from various Projects areas implemented by OXFAM.  The training was perfectly facilitated by Sanne Wijnhorst, Procurement Specialist, Oxfam Novib, Netherland. A cross section of participants in the two trainings shared their views and affirmed that OXFAM had started the year properly with great determination to achieve results and pledged to utilize the experience gained in delivering targeted results.
