Indeed, the afforestation projects in the 1990s resulted in vast shelter belts and modest farmer-managed tree on natural regeneration, private windbreaks, woodlots and tree on farm land. Nonetheless, the population uses four times more fuel-wood production than the area produces. Therefore, intensifying farmer-managed fuel-wood production and reducing fuel wood through efficient cookstoves initiatives, will maintain fuel-wood-balance consumption and bring back the resilience of livelihoods of the rural households in the focal LGAs. This is the mission of Farmer Managed Renewal Energy Production in Katsina State.
